What is ENS Training and Why We Do It With Our Puppies
Ever wonder how breeders help puppies grow up brave, smart, and ready for anything? It starts way earlier than you think — with something called ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation).
ENS is a typical form of socialization for 1 and 2-week-old puppies. It involves a series of gentle exercises designed to expose puppies to mild stressors. ENS has proven to enhance a puppy's ability to cope with stress, strengthen their cardiovascular system, and boost their immune response.
ENS was originally developed by the U.S. military through their “Super Dog” program. They discovered that simple, controlled early experiences helped puppies grow into stronger, healthier, and more resilient working dogs. Today, breeders around the world use these same techniques to give all puppies the best possible start — not just service dogs!
Puppies who go through ENS experience:
- Improved stress tolerance - puppies handle new situations and stress better. Stay calmer in new places.
- Have stronger hearts and immune systems giving them a better ability to fight off illnesses.
- Enhanced confidence - more curious and less fearful.
- Better learning ability - quicker to learn command and adapt.
Doing ENS with a whole litter means EVERY puppy gets the best possible start in life. It’s just one of the ways we set our puppies up to become confident, happy dogs for their future families!
Good puppies don’t happen by accident — they’re raised with care, love, and science, and ENS is one of our favorite tools!
